Built in 1780, this historic guesthouse is set on 46 secluded and private acres conveniently located in southern/central Vermont. This classic gentleman's farm provides an ideal setting for a perfect New England Getaway. There are 18th century style gardens and lush expansive grounds with rolling green pastures, shaded woodlands and moss covered field stone walls. You'll find rushing rivers, babbling brooks and lovely mountain views, there's an old train trestle and even a vintage touring train that runs through the property, all of which are a tribute to the rural and rustic Vermont of yesteryear.

The entire home is tastefully decorated with period furniture, oriental carpets, beautiful art work, antique photographs and fascinating collections. Each of the three guest suites has a full private bath and comfortable sitting areas. Canopied beds, feather comforters, decorative fireplaces, plush robes and an outdoor hot tub are just a few of the many amenities this fine bed and breakfast has to offer.

Big Fire

Spring and summer are perfect times to visit the Williams River House. Nightly bonfires blaze in the Fire Circle and stargazing is at its best! The Fire Circle is a fieldstone walled terrace with a large central fire pit surrounded by comfortable Adirondack chairs, rustic wooden benches and a splashing waterfall spilling into a lovely miniature goldfish pool and water garden. Music is enjoyed throughout the property via an expansive outdoor sound system. On any given summer evening there is fire, water, starlight and song, a simply magical combination for you to experience!

The grand open porch is filled with large lazy rockers and overstuffed wicker furniture just waiting for you and your favorite book. Picture yourself on a balmy summer's day rocking gently in the antique glider overlooking the lush green meadows and flower gardens and listening to the calming splash of the nearby fountain. There's always something fun and exciting to experience in Vermont and the Williams River House in Chester is centrally located to it all! The Weston Playhouse, Vermont's oldest professional theatre company in Vermont hosts live performances, plays and musicals and is only minutes away! The nearby town of Bellows Falls hosts many of Southern Vermont's summer events including a 4 day concert event in June, the ever popular Roots on the River " The seventh annual Fred Eaglesmith concert”.

Mark and Guests at Okemo Love sports?
There is boating, canoeing, kayaking and swimming on the Connecticut River. Enjoy hiking, mountain climbing, mountain biking, and golfing all available in the Okemo Valley area! Unique summer sports and activities include horseback riding in Woodstock, Orvis fly fishing in Manchester and hot air ballooning in Quechee. During winter months you'll find downhill and cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling.

The Stone House Antique Center with over 80 dealers is great for fun antiquing is just down the street! There are all kinds of auctions, antique shows and fun eclectic flea markets to be found almost every weekend in Southern Vermont. The Brimfield Antique Show, put on three times a year, is one of the largest antique shows in the U.S and one of our favorite annual field trips! Make reservations and come with us!

The Williams River House and Farm hosts events up to 200 guests and specializes in relaxed country affairs.

The grand Colonial brick home with its countryside location offers an exceptional site of natural beauty and privacy. Events are tented affairs held on the grounds where guests can experience firsthand the flower gardens and beautiful rural vistas.

Winter events hosted indoors
are limited to 30 guests.
